The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) is pleased to announce its 2026 Top Scholars, the graduating students who had the highest average in their secondary school.
This year, the YCDSB is recognizing 19 outstanding students as Top Scholars, including four students who graduated with perfect 100 per cent averages:
- Sophie Leila Kaci graduated from Father Bressani Catholic High School in Woodbridge, Ont. She wants to make a positive impact on the world, and in September, she will enter the Life Sciences program at the University of Toronto.
- Victoria April Rinaldi also graduated from Father Bressani CHS. She will study in York University’s Kinesiology and Health Science program, and she hopes to attend dentistry or medical school in the future so she can help others.
- Kaitlyn Tran, who also graduated from Father Bressani CHS, will attend the Health Sciences program at Queen’s University. She loves science and hopes to be a doctor one day.
- Hong Yi (Eric) Wang graduated from St. Theresa of Lisieux CHS in Richmond Hill, and will attend Yale University, where he will major in both Computer Science and Economics. He hopes to combine his passion for computer science and entrepreneurship to build technology that has a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
“Congratulations to the YCDSB’s Top Scholars and to all of our graduates,” said Jennifer Sarna, YCDSB Interim Chief Executive Officer. “Every day, the YCDSB’s staff have the privilege of working with incredible young people who want to use their God-given talents to make the world a better place. These students are wonderful examples of what is possible when a community comes together to support a child’s education.”
YCDSB Top Scholars are the students with the highest average at their secondary school, based on the average of their top six grade 12 courses.
Graduating from secondary school is a massive milestone in a young person’s life. In June, the YCDSB celebrated its newest alumni at graduation ceremonies throughout the board. The YCDSB is proud of all its graduating students and is excited to continue celebrating them throughout their life journeys.
