Every February, people across Canada participate in Black Heritage Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities. As a Catholic Community, we are called to live in solidarity. This requires that we learn from, and about our brothers and sisters in Christ. We remind ourselves that being the Body of Christ means that we honour each person as a beloved member of our human family.
Throughout the month of February, we feel blessed to be celebrating Black Heritage Month and furthering this important conversation at All Saints CES. We will be celebrating Black excellence through the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians both past and present, as students learn about different key figures of our history and heritage.
To begin the month, we felt blessed to drum up excitement with an amazing percussion workshop lead by Joaquin Nunes Hidalgo, and Dyalis Machardo. We look forward to welcoming talented Entertainer, musician, composer, dancer, choreographer, and author, Njacko Backo, to All Saints on February 7th during Carnaval Week. Additionally, if you missed our Parent Engagement Evening, featuring Spider Jones, please attend our school-level presentation on Monday, February 26th @ 11:00 AM, which will follow our Black Heritage Month Liturgy @ 10:45 AM.
